My name is Daniel Scott Jr. Since my beginnings in Fort Worth, Texas, I’ve moved to a few places around the country and ended up in Southern California during my years of school and college. There in the foothills, I graduated from Azusa Pacific University in 1997, receiving a BA in Art.
At APU, I began to create the mosaics, using candy and drink labels as a medium. Little did I know this idea would have such longevity in my career. Since then, I kept refining the idea, using just candy wrappers now. By default, I use a consistent and limited palette of colors.
I often hear the word “stunning” about my art from followers and strangers alike.
In 2019, my semi-professional career ramped up since my first solo show in 20 years, downtown Fort Worth. In turn, I was approached by Fort Worth Magazine for a write-up. During the following two years, I met clients, through the article and on social media, keeping me busy with commissions all year long, creating breathtaking popular culture portraits, sprinkled in with dog portraits (Chewbacca counts).
In the future, I look to create original 3D work, using candy wrappers as my color palette.
From the challenge of a project, to the conversations from people I meet, it’s a privilege to retell the story about how all this came about. I thank my professors, family and friends for their grace and support. I currently reside in Fort Worth, Texas with my wife, Cari and two girls – Emma and Leah Grace.
